Etude House Pink Skull Collection

I was browsing through the Etude House website during their Korean Thanksgiving sale and saw their newly released Pink Skull collection. The collection intrigued me because it all looked cute, edgy, and funky. Also, the price was reduced and there was an additional 30% off because of Korean Thanksgiving, so I just couldn't resist!

The Pink Skull collection has two types of looks: lovely skull and funky skull. I picked up both the lovely and funky 3-in-1 kit and both of their cream blushers. The 3-in-1 kits contain an eye shadow palette, mascara, and a twin shot lip tint. The 3-in-1 kits are currently $36.12 each.

All of the packaging is so stinking cute. I'll show the swatches of everything except for the mascara because I have a bunch of mascara open right now and I want to use those all up before I open them. The mascara from the Lovely Skull kit is the Lash Perm Curl-Fix Mascara in Pinky Brown. The claims of this mascara is that it helps in curling drooped lashes. This should be interesting to use because I usually get black mascaras, but this will be good to use if I want a more natural look. The mascara from the Funky Skull kit is the Lash Perm Curl-Fix Mascara Long Lash (that's a mouthful isn't it?) As the "Long Lash" implies, this claims to lengthen your lashes.

The twin shot lip tint has two sides: a mousse tint and a pearl tint. The lip tint that is in the Lovely Skull set is called Pink x Pumpkin Shot (PK003). The mousse side is a pinky red and the pearl tint side is a orange/gold color. For the Funky Skull set, the lip tint is called Funky x Skull Shot (RD304). The mousse side is more a truer red and the pearl tint side is a black/purple color. The mousse dry down to a matte finish and the pearl tint have a sheen/glitter gloss appearance. It's designed so that you can use them separately or together if you want. The swatches below I feel don't look too different from each other in the picture, but in real life the Pink x Pumpkin Shot is definitely lighter and more pink in color.

For the eyeshadow palettes, there are 9 colors each. Each eye shadow has a cute heart design. The Lovely Skull palette is more of a lighter/natural look versus the Funky Skull palette, which has deeper/darker look. The palettes have a variety of finishes (matte, satin, shimmer/glitter).

There are two blushes: Skull Rose (PK001) and Funky Pink (PK002). Each blush comes with a cushion for application. Skull Rose (PK001) is more darker in tone than Funky Pink (PK002). On the site, the price is currently $9.99 each.

So, what do you think? Are you more into the Lovely or Funky collection? I'm really excited to try out this whole collection! There were a few more things in this collection, but they didn't interest me as much so I didn't purchase them. If you are interested in seeing the rest of their collection or purchasing you can go to the Etude House website.

Elizavecca Milkypiggy Kangsi Pack

What is it for?

Mask pack that is infused with 24K gold powder to help promote smooth and radiant skin.

Active Ingredients:

24K gold powder extract, berry extract, green herb extract, hydrolyzed collagen

To look at the full list of ingredients, its function for each, and its safety/irritant levels go ahead and click on this website: http://www.cosdna.com/eng/cosmetic_006c221868.html

Directions:

  1. Squeeze appropriate amount to cover your clean face.
  2. Let the mask sit for about 20 minutes, the mask will turn from a gold to a white color.
  3. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Review:

I purchased this from ebay for around $12.00. The Kangsi Pack comes in a squeeze tube with 120 mL of product. The packaging is super adorable! I just think that the pig on the packaging with the gold characters are super cute!

Kangsi Pack and Packaging

Mask is a squeeze tube.

The actual product comes out with ease and is an actual shimmering gold color! The consistency is very sticky, so it was kind of hard for me not to get it everywhere, but I somehow managed to get it on just my face…XD haha!  I used my hands to spread a layer over my entire face. I noticed that the application with my fingers was a little uneven, so I might have to try using a brush next time to see if that provides better control. Upon spreading the mask over my face, the scent I noticed was a mix between a mud mask and a floral scent. In my opinion, the fragrance is pretty strong. I'm not a super huge fan of the scent, but its manageable. There is a menthol like sensation when placing the mask on your face, so avoid spreading the mask near your eyes because it might cause some tingling/burning near your eyes.

Pea size amount
Swatch of product on hand.
After applying the mask, I waited for the magic to happen! The gold mask slowly starts drying to a white and powdery consistency. I honestly felt like a vampire from Twilight because once the mask dries down, you will notice that it  becomes very sparkly and shimmery. (I know...*cue eye roll* XD)

Mask after 5 minutes.

Completely dried mask after 10-15 minutes.
Once it dries to a completely white finish, it's time to rinse off the mask. It honestly was fairly easy to rinse the mask off. I do use other face masks in my regimen (i.e. clay, honey, etc) and those can be a little harder to wash off compared to the Kangsi Pack. After rinsing, I noticed an immediate difference in my skin. It definitely felt smoother and brighter. I'll have to use this more to see if it has any long term benefits for my skin, but I think this is a great weekly face mask to use. I think it's good especially if your skin feels dull and needs a pick me up and would probably be great to use before a special event or occasion.

I do recommend these if you want a fun weekly pick me up mask for your skin. However, once I finish this product, won't be repurchasing it.

Overall:

Pros:
Cons:
*Packaging is adorable
*Easy to rinse off
*Immediate brightening of the skin
*Texture of skin feels smoother
*Fun experience
*Super sticky
*Fragrance is strong

Daiso Haul #1

I recently went to Daiso, raided their beauty section, and picked up a few things! If you don't know what Daiso is, it's similar to a 99 cents or Dollar Tree store, but they sell most products for $1.50.

Here's what I got:

Daiso Eye Makeup Cleansing Tissue (This is probably my 10th packet. I always repurchase this!)
Daiso Foot Mask Pack
Daiso Hand Mask Pack
Daiso Mask Pack 7 Sheets Collagen
Daiso Mask Pack 7 Sheets Hyaluronic Acid

Apart from the makeup cleansing wipes, I've never tried any of these items. I'm excited to try these out and see how they perform. I'll update you guys with another post in a few weeks!

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam

What is it for?

Absorb sebum and purify pores with Jeju's volcanic cleansing foam.

Active Ingredients:

jeju volcanic scoria, green complex

To look at the full list of ingredients, its function for each, and its safety/irritant levels go ahead and click on this website: http://www.cosdna.com/eng/cosmetic_660b192896.html

Directions:

  1. Squeeze pea size amount and lather into hands
  2. Massage all over face.
  3. Rinse with warm water.

Review:

SPOILER ALERT: I don't have my own photos of this product because I ended up giving it away…tells you how I really felt about the product…>_< I'm going to attach stock photos of the product from innisfree's website so you can get an idea of what it looks like…anyways, onto the review!

I bought this from ebay for about $11. The cleanser came in a squeeze tube with 150 mL of product.  The package is matte with a combination of dark and light yellow. There is a picture of a Jeju volcanic rock on the front of the package:

A little seriously goes a long way with this product. This cleanser lathers like a dream! I enjoyed using this product when I first got it. It was gentle on the face, but I could feel how amazing and effective it was at cleaning my skin.  It also smelled really nice too. I honestly haven't been this impressed with a cleanser in a long time!

BUT as you can tell from my spoiler alert...my opinion changed after a few days of using this product. Around the third or fourth day, I started to notice one or two breakouts on my face. Now, I didn't think much of it at the time because I would occasionally get a pimple or two...so I kept washing my face with the cleanser. It wasn't til about a week after, I noticed that I started to get more pimples ALL over my face. Not only that, they were the big, red, painful kind... :/ I knew that the face wash was the only culprit because it was the only change in my regimen at that time.  I've read online that sometimes when you use a product, you can break out and go through a "purging stage" before it gets better, but I really didn't want to continue on with the product at this point. So sadly, I had a full bottle of this cleanser that I couldn't use anymore. It was unusual for me to break out from a product, because my skin isn't sensitive at all. I really never had that many problems when using products on my face, but I noticed in the past few months that my skin has been more sensitive than it used to be!

Anyways, because this face wash broke me out, I won't be buying this product again. It really bummed me out that it didn't work out for me because I really did like the product. It's marketed for oily skin and I have oily/combo skin, so I'm not sure why it didn't work out for me. I wouldn't go so far to say that I wouldn't recommend this product, it was a really good cleanser aside from my reaction to it.  I read on some of the Amazon reviews that this product broke others out as well, so if you do want to try it, tread with caution.

Overall:

Pros:
Cons:
*Lathers really nicely
*A little goes a long way
*Smells lovely
*Gentle on skin
*Cleans effectively
*Broke me out

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream

What is it for?

This product promotes natural-looking coverage while providing sun protection, treating dark spots, and preventing wrinkles.

The M Perfect Cover BB Cream is suitable for all skin types and can be used as a makeup base or foundation.

Active Ingredients:

camomile extract, rosemary extract, ceramide, hyaluronic acid, gatuline RC

To look at the full list of ingredients, its function for each, and its safety/irritant levels go ahead and click on this website: http://www.cosdna.com/eng/cosmetic_dd46217451.html

Directions:

  1. Start off with one pump of product on back of hand.
  2. Dot BB cream all over face.
  3. Use hands, brush, or sponge to blend out.
  4. Use more BB cream if more coverage is desired.

Review:

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream comes with 50mL of product and has SPF 42 and PA+++ protection from UV rays. The 50mL comes with a pump, which is great for keeping things sanitary. This is one of the most popular BB creams that Missha sells and it has the most variety in terms of skin tones, 5 to be exact! Most Korean BB creams will just have 1 or 2 shades. It's much easier to find the right tone w/ this BB cream compared to other brands.

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream No. 27 Package
My hand without any product
One pump of BB cream
Swatch of BB cream
Over the years, I've tried a few methods of applying this BB cream on my face: my hands, a buffing brush, and a face sponge. For me personally, I like using my real techniques face sponge. I feel like applying it w/ the sponge makes it blend into my skin easier and gives a more natural looking finish. Using my hands or a buffing brush tend  to make the BB cream sit on top of my skin and I ran the risk of a streakier application.

Blended with fingers

Blended with sponge

There is a slight fragrance to the BB cream, it kind of has a perfume old lady smell to it. However, after applying it, the scent doesn’t linger.  The coverage is buildable, but is medium at best and the finish is on the dewy side. I have slightly oily combo skin, so I tend to set this w/ a mattifying powder.  On hotter days, I will get oily faster and will find myself having to reapply powder. The staying power is fairly good. I tend to wear this for about 6-8 hours on a typical day and my skin still looks decent.

Currently, I am using the color No 27, Honey Beige. However I have used No 21 and 23 because I used to be lighter. Something to note from my previous experience w/ the lighter colors. They tend to have a greyish cast to it when you first apply it to you face, but the BB cream does oxidize and that grey cast goes away. I experienced this w/ No 21 and 23, but not No 27.

The cost can vary depending on where you get the BB cream. On MisshaUS.com and Target.com, they sale it for $22.00. When I buy my BB cream, I typically buy it on ebay or Amazon for around $13.00.

I have repurchased this BB cream and will continue to! I do highly recommend this BB cream. It has good coverage and a great shade selection. I think it looks fairly natural (depending on the method of application) and long lasting.

Overall:

Pros:
Cons:
*wider color selection
*good coverage
*SPF protection
*packaging comes with pump, making it more sanitary
*can get too dewy/oily for oily/combo skin
*scent can bother those who are sensitive to smell
